I'd recommend you get one of these as backup; my original ran out during my kids birthday party. It's not that I forgot to charge it, but the battery life is particularly short on this model. It's not cheap but its probably worth it compared to one of the non branded ones, which I've had on previous products and they were rubbish. You get what you pay for.

Yes, I bit the finacial bullet and have no regerets about a well performing back up battery with a decent cover/ storage cap. It does what's required and tells battery power status on screen. Just a point of note, my camcorder is silver, this battery is very dark grey, being a Canon HF10 accessory and I deliberate choose it, so it is easily distinquished from my canon HF100 ( note the extra '0') original silver coloured battery.

Not much to say. A genuine Canon battery. Works fine but rather expensive. Other generic batteries for camcorders tend to be in the 20-30 range, but Canon rip you off. However, the manual warns of using non genuine batteries as they may not charge on the camcorder or display remaining time (the genuine ones claim to show minute by minute charge left). So do your own research on this area before purchasing a non genuine canon battery for your canon camcorder. I choose the safe route and paid up with bad grace.
